Gemini 3 Pro Limits: Free Users Face Reduced Quotas

Google Restricts Gemini 3 Pro and NotebookLM Access Due to High Demand

Google is implementing usage limitations for its Gemini 3 Pro and NotebookLM tools in response to increased user activity. These changes impact both free and paid users, with free users experiencing the most critically important reductions in access.

Previously, users without a paid subscription received five daily interactions with Gemini 3 Pro, a quota consistent with the earlier Gemini 2.5 Pro version. Image generation with Nano Banana Pro was initially slated for three creations per day. Though, Google has now replaced these specific limits with a promise of only “basic access,” the parameters of which are subject to change. This ambiguous wording indicates a decrease in functionality, mirroring challenges faced by the wider AI industry as demand grows.

Currently, Google is specific only about image generation, limiting users to a maximum of two images per day. The company notes this number isn’t fixed and could be adjusted based on demand.

The note-taking submission NotebookLM is also affected. Newly introduced features allowing users to generate infographics and presentation decks have been temporarily scaled back, with free users completely losing access to these tools. Paid users are also facing stricter limitations.NotebookLM allows users to create visual representations of text in various formats and levels of detail, and offers options for creating detailed presentations or concise lecture slides.

Notably, the usage limits for google AI Pro and Ultra subscription tiers remain unchanged.
