New Video Surfaces Showing Gas Tanker Moments Before Deadly Puente La Concordia Accident
Mexico City – A newly released video depicts the gas tanker involved in the September 11th explosion on the Puente La Concordia in Iztapalapa,Mexico City,moments before it overturned and unleashed a massive gas leak. the footage, circulating widely online, shows the truck navigating a curve prior to the accident, offering investigators crucial insight into the events leading up to the tragedy.
The incident, which occurred on September 11, 2025, resulted in a devastating explosion and fire that claimed the lives of 21 people and injured numerous others. Initial reports indicate the tanker, owned by Silza Company – a subsidiary of the Tomza Group – suffered a 40-centimeter fissure upon impact, triggering the leak that quickly spread within a 180-meter radius.The resulting blast wave damaged vehicles,impacted nearby homes,and affected pedestrians and workers near the Concordia bridge.
The CDMX Prosecutor’s office has opened inquiry folders for crimes of guilty homicide,guilty injuries,and property damage to determine obligation for the incident. Silza Company has acknowledged ownership of the vehicle and pledged full cooperation with authorities, with representatives already appearing before the Public Ministry and offering to contribute to damage repair.
Among the deceased is Fernando Soto Munguía, 39, the tanker’s driver, who succumbed to severe burns six days after the explosion while hospitalized at the Traumatology Hospital ‘Dr. Victorio de la Fuente Narváez.’
In response to the disaster, CDMX authorities established a Solidarity Committee to manage donations and provide direct assistance to affected families, offering financial support to both the injured and the relatives of the victims. Investigations are ongoing to establish legal responsibilities.
