G-Dragon’s New Ad Becomes YouTube’s “Most Hated” With Scalding Reviews

G-Dragon’s Bizarre AI Ad Campaign Divides YouTube

A South Korean AI “superapp” has ignited a firestorm of criticism on YouTube, thanks to a new ad campaign fronted by BIGBANG’s G-Dragon. The ads are unusual, leading to both confusion and strong reactions from viewers.

The Controversial Ads

The ads star G-Dragon repeating, “This is an ad, this is an AI ad.” His performance is true to form, with a quirky style. The ads cut off after only 15 seconds, giving little information about what the “wrtn” app actually does.

Even the 30-second version doesn’t provide more clarity, mostly showing G-Dragon moving the camera around, as if on a video call.

“This is an AI ad. An ad. It’s an ad. It’s— It’s an advertisement for an AI. A, I. The name is… Not Louie, not Lee, but Wri-tten. I’m shooting this on my own because everyone else is busy. But this is an ad! Wrtn.”

In another version, also offered in 15- and 30-second segments, G-Dragon stresses the app’s name.

“I only use this one. I like it. Wr-i. Written. To make that easier… What word starts with the sound wri-? Wrtn, wrtn, wrtn, wrtn, AI wrtn. Really.”

Unexpected Results
