Fun Lovin’ Criminals Bring Unique Sound Back to Riga
The American band Fun Lovin’ Criminals, known for their distinctive blend of genres, recently completed a performance at Riga’s Palladium concert hall on November 3rd as part of their European tour. The concert marked a return to Latvia after a fifteen-year hiatus, following a previous appearance in 2010.
The tour supports the release of their new album, “A Matter of Time,” a project eagerly anticipated by fans. Drummer Frank Benbini explained the album’s creation stemmed from a renewed sense of creative control, allowing the band to pursue music with genuine meaning. The album features contributions from grammy award-winning producer tim Latham. Lead single “Little Bit Further” has been met with positive reviews, being described as a standout track.
Fun Lovin’ Criminals have cultivated a signature sound since their formation in 1993, seamlessly integrating hip-hop, rock, blues, jazz, and funk. This unique approach propelled their 1996 album, “Come Find Yourself,” and its hit single “Scooby Snacks” to international success. The band maintains a particularly strong following in Europe and Great Britain, where they continue to draw dedicated audiences.
The Riga concert showcased a mix of classic hits like “Scooby Snacks” alongside new material from “A Matter of Time,” performed by founder and multi-instrumentalist Brian “Fast” Leizer, drummer Frank Benbini, and guitarist Naims Cortaci.
