Gerindra Urges Energy Ministry to Secure Fuel Supply Chain Amidst Scarcity Concerns
Jakarta, Indonesia – A leading figure in Indonesia’s Gerindra party is calling on the Ministry of Energy and mineral Resources (ESDM) to prioritize the stability of the fuel supply chain following reports of scarcity at privately-owned gas stations. Bambang haryadi,Secretary of the Gerindra Faction in the DPR (House of Representatives),emphasized the need for careful consideration of potential disruptions.
“The Ministry of Energy and Mineral resources must pay close attention to the stability of the supply chain and distribution networks,” Haryadi stated on Thursday, September 18th, 2025. “Any policy decisions must factor in the potential impact on the fuel supply and the livelihoods of workers in the sector.”
Haryadi highlighted the significant disparity between state-owned Pertamina‘s extensive network – boasting 6,400 gas stations and 6,700 Pertashops – and the comparatively smaller presence of private operators, which number around 450 stations, representing approximately 5% of Pertamina’s total.
“Given this imbalance, ESDM must proceed with caution,” Haryadi warned. “A fuel shortage could erode public trust in the government.”
the concerns come as President Prabowo subianto’s management settles in, and Haryadi stressed the importance of mitigating any potential disruptions that could impact the new government’s stability. He urged complete risk assessment and mitigation strategies to prevent public unrest.
“We hope that in making policies, comprehensive mitigation is carried out so as not to cause public noise that disrupts President Prabowo’s administration,” he concluded.
The call for vigilance underscores the critical role of a reliable fuel supply in maintaining economic stability and public confidence in Indonesia.
