France Reaches European Team Championship Final, Defeating Germany 3-1
Zadar, Croatia – France secured a spot in the final of the European Team championship on Saturday, defeating germany 3-1 in a stunning upset. This marks France’s first appearance in the final as 2007, ending Germany’s 18-year streak of reaching this stage. The French team will face either Slovenia or Romania on Sunday,seeking their first title as 1998.
The match began with a German victory as benedikt Duda defeated Alexis Lebrun in three sets (11-7, 11-9, 11-6). Though,France quickly rallied. Félix Lebrun overcame Patrick Franziska in a thrilling five-set match (11-6, 7-11, 11-6, 8-11, 11-7) to level the score.
Simon Gauzy then delivered a significant win, upsetting Dang Qiu, ranked 14th in the world, in three sets (11-8, 11-6, 12-10), despite facing a 9-7 deficit in the third set. This gave France a 2-1 lead.
the decisive point came from Félix Lebrun,ranked 5th in the world,who battled against Duda. After winning the first set (11-8) and briefly leading the second (10-6) before losing it (12-10),Lebrun dominated the third set with an impressive 11-2 victory. Despite a late push from Duda in the fourth set, leading 4-0, Lebrun quickly regained control and clinched the match on his first match point, securing the victory for France.
