‘Spot Knight’ Brings Fortnite and Squid Game to Seoul
Epic Games and Zenji Esports launch interactive fan event.
An engaging fusion of gaming and culture has landed in Seoul as Epic Games, in collaboration with Zenji Esports, presents ‘Spot Knight’. This event, which kicked off on July 5th, transforms the GGX cultural space in Jung-gu into a hub for Fortnite and Squid Game enthusiasts, and runs until July 18th.
Event Highlights
‘Spot Knight’ began with a fan event that drew 220 applicants. A highlight is the Squid Ground
collaboration, a Fortnite-only map inspired by Squid Game. The day included event matches, fan meet-and-greets, and prize giveaways.
Mini-Game Zone
GGX features a mini-game zone that blends Fortnite and Squid Game themes. Visitors can test their shooting accuracy with toy guns reminiscent of those in Fortnite. The zone offers three mini-games inspired by Squid Game: air play and tombstones. Participants who complete the mini-games and collect stamps are rewarded with prizes.

Star-Studded Event Matches
The main event featured two matches with streamers like Kim Blue and Tester Hoon, alongside Zenji legends such as Easter, Loki, and Kelly. Yun Root, a Battleground Pro Gamer from Zenji, provided commentary.

‘Squid Ground’ Gameplay
The event matches took place on Squid Ground
, a Fortnite map that recreates the ambiance of the Squid Game. The map includes a waiting room similar to the show and recreates iconic game settings.
Participants were selected via lottery, forming four-member squads. Two streamer teams and an esports team joined 34 other players, totaling 40 participants. Interestingly, the global gaming market is projected to reach $340 billion by 2027, highlighting the industry’s continued expansion Statista 2024.

Additional Activities
The second event match was followed by activities involving influencers and fans, including polaroid photoshoots awarded through a lottery.

Ongoing Activities
Until July 18th, GGX will continue to host ‘Spot Knight’, offering Fortnite and Squid Game-themed mini-games. Those visiting GGX to play Fortnite can receive rewards for two hours of playtime.
