BANGKOK – Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has been transferred to a medical ward within a Bangkok prison after reporting heart disease and chest pain, according to Yonhap News Agency. The move comes amid a legal battle over preferential treatment during his hospitalization and follows a recent Supreme Court ruling.
Shinawatra,who returned to Thailand in August after 15 years in self-imposed exile,was initially admitted to the police hospital. The controversy surrounding his care sparked a trial, culminating in a September 9th decision by the Thai Supreme Court denying him extended hospital stays. The case highlights the ongoing scrutiny of Thaksin’s legal status and health following his return to face corruption charges. His youngest daughter, Patanna Wat, visited him at Lilang Prem Prison on September 15th.The former Prime Minister is currently incarcerated at Lilang Prem Prison.
