Former NFL Star Marcellus Wiley Sued Over Alleged 1999 USC Student Rape

Former NFL Star Marcellus Wiley Sued Over Alleged 1999 USC Student Rape

October 28, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

Former NFL defensive end and sports media personality Marcellus Wiley is the defendant in a lawsuit filed Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court alleging that he raped a 22-year-old University of Southern California student in 1999, latimes.com reported.

The lawsuit details an encounter between Wiley and a plaintiff identified as Jane Doe, who stated she met the former football player in February 1999 during his third season with the Buffalo Bills. According to the filing outlined by usatoday.com, the woman stated she was sexually inexperienced and not interested in a romantic relationship when they went on two dates.

Details of the 1999 Allegations in Los Angeles

The legal complaint states that Doe accompanied Wiley to a Los Angeles nightclub and agreed to spend the night in his hotel room after he pleaded with her. Doe alleged that she fell asleep fully clothed, woke up when she felt his erect penis pressing against her leg, and was raped after telling him to stop multiple times, dailymail.com reported. The lawsuit claims that as Wiley drove her back to her dorm room the following morning, he suggested she test herself for sexually transmitted diseases because he had “the clap,” adding that they never spoke again.

Doe reported the incident to her supervisor at the USC Student Health Center, received a rape kit at Los Angeles County Medical Center that tested positive for bruising and semen, and filed a police report, according to usatoday.com. On April 15, 1999, she received a call from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office stating that Wiley denied the allegations and no charges would be filed. Doe is suing Wiley for sexual battery, assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Prior Allegations and Legal Actions

The newly filed action adds to a growing series of legal challenges against Wiley. latimes.com reported that Wiley faces accusations from three women regarding misconduct during his time as a student at Columbia University in 1994, alongside four additional women alleging similar behavior between 1995 and 2009. These allegations support a class-action status motion against Wiley and Columbia filed by an accuser who initiated a complaint in 2023 alleging a 1994 campus rape.

Wiley also faced domestic allegations earlier in 2026. He was arrested on July 4 in Florida following an altercation with his estranged wife, Annemarie Wiley, at a hotel. The Orange County State Attorney’s Office dropped criminal charges in August due to a lack of corroborating physical evidence, stating that testimonial evidence received was “not corroborated by any physical or other evidence,” which left it “insufficient to obtain conviction.” However, Annemarie Wiley secured a temporary restraining order after alleging in court documents that Wiley raped her four separate times—once in 2012 and three times in January 2026—and filed for divorce the same day. A judge extended that restraining order for three years in September.

Wiley Denies Allegations and Launches MenTooProject.Org

Wiley has not yet responded to the Los Angeles lawsuit, and it remains unclear when or if he will, according to usatoday.com. He denied the allegations. “To me, it’s about my son’s name, that he will one day Google and think this is about him, but he’s gonna know it’s about his dad,” he said on “Dat Dude TV” in May. He has publicly denied past allegations, pointing to the MenTooProject.org platform he launched in August after Florida prosecutors declined to file charges in the July 4 domestic dispute. He has also addressed claims on his YouTube channel, asserting that his interactions with accusers were consensual.
