Flyers Acquire Trevor Zegras in Blockbuster Trade

Philadelphia bolsters its roster with a young, dynamic center from the Anaheim Ducks.

The Philadelphia Flyers have made a significant move, trading for center Trevor Zegras in a deal announced today. This acquisition brings a talented young player to Philadelphia, injecting a boost of scoring and skill into the team’s lineup and electrifying fans.

Trade Details

The Flyers are acquiring Trevor Zegras from the Anaheim Ducks, according to General Manager Daniel Briere. In return, the Ducks will receive forward Ryan Poehling, the Flyers’ 2025 45th overall pick, and their 2026 fourth-round pick.

Zegras, 24, was originally drafted by the Ducks in 2019. Throughout his five seasons with Anaheim, he has played in 268 games, amassing 67 goals, 119 assists, and 186 points. In 2022, he earned a spot on the NHL All-Rookie Team and followed up with back-to-back 60+ point seasons in 2021-22 and 2022-23. During the 2022-23 season, Zegras led the Ducks in points (65), goals (23), game-winning-goals (3), and overtime goals.

Zegras’s Performance and Background

During the past season, Zegras recorded 12 goals and 32 points in 57 regular season games. His point-per-game average was 0.56, ranking him fifth best on the team; he had the ninth-most points.

Before his full-time NHL career, Zegras played for the San Diego Gulls in the 2020-21 season. He had 10 goals and 21 points in 17 regular season games, and he added three points in three playoff games. He also spent the 2019-20 season at Boston University, where he had more than a point per game with a total of 36 points (11 goals and 25 assists) in 33 games.

The Bedford, NY native has represented the United States on five occasions, most recently at the 2024 World Championships. At the championship, he had one goal and one assist in eight games. Zegras also played in the 2020 and 2021 World Junior Championships. In 2021, he helped the United States win gold and was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player after registering seven goals and 18 points in seven games.

Going into the 2025 NHL Draft, the Flyers possess six picks in the first two rounds, giving them a total of ten picks:
