HOLLYWOOD, fla. – A 40-year-old man from Sunrise,Florida,is facing grand theft charges following an incident at teh Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino,according to the Seminole Police Department.
Details of the Alleged Theft
Kamal Curtis Lundy allegedly stole approximately $15,000 worth of casino chips from a cashier’s register on Wednesday. Hard Rock security alerted police after observing suspicious activity.
Police reports indicate that Lundy initially attempted to redeem chips at a cashier window. Surveillance footage shows him handing chips to the teller before momentarily stepping away.
He then reportedly returned to the window, leaned over the counter, and removed chips directly from the teller’s register.
Second Attempt and Apprehension
Lundy later attempted to redeem $6,005 in chips at a different window within the casino, located at 1 Seminole Way. Security personnel confronted him, and he returned the remaining chips.
He was then taken into custody and transported to the Broward County main jail.
Current Legal Status
As of Friday morning, Lundy’s name was not listed in the Broward Sheriff’s Office’s online inmate records. However, jail records confirm he is charged with grand theft, specifically for an amount exceeding $10,000 but less than $20,000.
