More than 140 athletes and artists from Florencio Varela finalized their preparations ahead of their departure to Mar del Plata to compete in the final stage of the Juegos Bonaerenses, varela.gob.ar reported.
Municipal Preparation at Predio Comunal La Patriada
Intendente Andrés Watson met with the delegation during an event at the municipal facility “La Patriada,” located at the corner of Avenida Novak and Bonn, where officials distributed athletic gear and uniforms to the participants. Watson described the municipal and provincial investment in culture and sport as a deliberate political decision aimed at opening opportunities and strengthening community ties. The district’s representation builds upon a registration pool of 16,033 participants, marking an increase of 3,000 enrollments compared to the previous year, according to elradardelsur.ar. Estefanía Nieva of Culture, Sports and Recreation, highlighted the belonging and identity of a community committed to the colors of our city
and defined the initiative as a public policy that demonstrates the joint work between Andrés Watson and Axel Kicillof.
Estefanía Nieva of Culture, Sports and Recreation, noted that the delegation’s size required expanded logistical coordination, describing that the higher enrollment figure implies an increase in the organization and logistics work for the team. Nieva emphasized that the district has maintained a top-ten finish in the provincial tournament 21 years ago.

Athletes Compete Across Multiple Disciplines and Sports
The roster encompasses multiple competitive disciplines, including track and field, newcom, and adaptive sports. Among the participants, María Inés Pino, a resident of Villa Aurora competing in the 10-kilometer race, stated that she had pursued the tournament goal as a lifestyle commitment and received complete backing from the municipality, varela.gob.ar reported. Sharon Rojas, a table tennis competitor from the Don Orione neighborhood participating in her fifth games, highlighted the social aspect of the event and the community formed through adaptive sports.
