JVM’s first giant scare is a fact.

Finland lost – against Germany.

“Disaster”writes the Finnish newspaper Evening newspaper.

After the loss to Canada in the opener, most probably expected the Junior Lions to bounce back with a win against Germany.

But not.

In a match that swung back and forth, in the end it was a German victory with 4–3.

Two late goals (by Roman Kechter and Veit Oswald) in the second period meant that Finland had to play with a knife to its throat in the final period, but it ended goalless.

“Strength”

Thus, the giant shock – the first in this year’s edition of the JVM – was a fact.

Germany is making a real effort. They celebrate as if they won a WC gold medal almost. And rightfully so. What a team performance, says Jacob Josefson in TV6.

“Disaster”

In the Finnish media, the start of JVM is described as “a disaster”.

– Of course it was a bad result today, but the tournament is not over yet, says national team captain Lauri Mikkola according to Evening newspaper.
