Financial Literacy Park: FLIP Educates for Life

by Priya Shah – Business Editor

Austria’s Erste Financial Life Park (FLiP), one of the country’s largest financial education institutions, is expanding its reach through interactive tours, online resources, and a mobile financial education bus, according to recent announcements.

Located on the Erste Campus near Vienna’s main train station, FLiP offers two-hour guided tours designed to teach children and young adults about financial literacy. The curriculum focuses on practical skills such as budget planning, understanding financial terminology, and evaluating the impact of spending decisions on international production processes. The program aims to equip participants with the knowledge to make informed financial choices and avoid potential pitfalls like early debt, a problem the Erste Stiftung identifies as a barrier to opportunity.

Beyond the physical location in Vienna, FLiP extends its educational efforts through FLiP2Go, a mobile financial education unit that travels throughout Austria. An online platform, flipchallenge.at, provides e-learning modules and supplementary educational materials. These resources are designed to be accessible to a broad audience, including schools and private individuals.

The initiative is a joint effort between Erste Social Finance Holding, in which the ERSTE Stiftung holds a 51 percent stake, and a network of partner organizations including the Wiener Börse (Vienna Stock Exchange), the Austrian National Bank, and several universities and educational institutions. The Wiener Börse emphasizes its collaboration with numerous organizations to strengthen financial education across Austria.

FLiP similarly co-hosts the Kardea! prize, in partnership with the ERSTE Stiftung, Johannes Kepler University Linz, Three Coins, and the Federal Ministry of Finance. The Kardea! prize recognizes innovative ideas from children and young people regarding financial management.

Nina von Gayl of Erste Group, can be contacted for further information regarding FLiP’s programs and initiatives. The organization emphasizes a transparent and unbiased approach to financial education, utilizing modern teaching methods to make learning engaging and accessible.

A separate FLiP location also operates in Kärnten, offering similar financial literacy programs to schools, businesses, and individuals.
