‘Jumanji‘ Sequel Officially Begins Production with Returning Cast
Los Angeles, CA – Filming has commenced in Los angeles on teh next installment of the blockbuster Jumanji franchise, marking a important step forward for the series that has collectively grossed nearly $2.1 billion worldwide. The new film, a follow-up too Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019), will once again star Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack black, and Karen Gillan.
The success of the previous two films - Welcome to the Jungle earning almost $1 billion and the Next Level bringing in $800 million globally – has cemented the franchise’s popularity and prompted columbia Pictures to prioritize continuity and nostalgia.Returning alongside the core cast are Bebe Neuwirth, Danny DeVito, Lamorne Morris, Marin Hinkle, Nick Jonas, and Rhys Darby, reprising their roles. Jonas will again play pilot alex ‘Seaplane’ McDonough,while Darby returns as video game guide Nigel Billingsley,and DeVito as Spencer’s grandfather,Eddie.
Jake Kasdan is back to direct, and newcomers Dan Hildebrand and Jack Jewkes have joined the cast. While plot details remain under wraps, Sony intends to deliver another blend of action, humor, and references to the original Jumanji story by Chris Van Allsburg.
The film is currently scheduled for release on December 11, 2026 – seven years after the release of Jumanji: The Next Level.
