Ferry Doedens: Docu Controversy & Addiction Battle Details

The upcoming Prime Video documentary, Ferry Lost, is generating controversy over its portrayal of Dutch actor Ferry Doedens, known for his role in the soap opera Goede tijden, slechte tijden. The documentary, directed by Sascha Visser, follows Doedens over a two-year period, revealing struggles with drug addiction and significant financial losses due to cryptocurrency gambling.

Initial trailers for the documentary depict a candid and at times disturbing look at Doedens’ life outside of his public persona. According to reports, Doedens lost approximately 50,000 euros through cryptocurrency investments. A friend featured in the documentary expressed concern, stating, “Dan bel ik hem ’s avonds en weet ik alweer hoe laat het is. Dan heeft het weer met drugs te maken,” (translated: “Then I call him in the evening and I already recognize what time This proves. Then it has to do with drugs again.”). His sister, Claudia, added, “Ik zie het gewoon. Het is een jongen die heel hard hulp nodig heeft, maar dat zelf niet inziet.” (translated: “I just see it. It’s a boy who really needs help, but doesn’t realize it himself.”)

The documentary also touches upon Doedens’ past struggles with cocaine addiction, which led to his dismissal from Goede tijden, slechte tijden in 2015. Despite a period of apparent recovery, including purchasing a house with earnings from his OnlyFans account in 2022, his manager, Christian Looman, suggests that Doedens is once again facing difficulties. Looman stated, “Er gebeuren gewoon gekke dingen,” (translated: “Just crazy things are happening”), referring to the actor’s substantial investments in crypto, adding, “Hij heeft crypto niet in de macht, crypto heeft hem in de macht.” (translated: “He doesn’t have crypto under control, crypto has him under control.”)

Doedens was briefly incarcerated in December after missing appointments related to a suspended sentence for a prior driving under the influence conviction. He is scheduled to appear in court again on March 27th for the same offense. The documentary is slated for release on Prime Video on or after February 16th.
