FBI Season 8 Episode 12: ‘Daybreak’ – Oslo Returns & OA Faces Danger

A recent episode of CBS’s FBI, titled “Daybreak,” delivered a suspenseful storyline involving the return of assassin Oslo and a breach of the FBI’s 26 Fed building, but initially presented a narrative puzzle regarding how the perpetrator gained access, according to a report by CinemaBlend.

The episode, available for streaming on Paramount+, saw Oslo targeting witnesses scheduled to testify before a grand jury, even managing to infiltrate the secure 26 Fed field office. Agents Maggie and OA found themselves protecting the final witness, Lynnette, in a lockdown situation, with Oslo firing down upon them from above. A subsequent confrontation in an elevator between OA and Oslo ultimately resulted in OA’s victory, though the assassin’s actions were revealed to be directed by an individual known only as Tribune, who was holding Oslo’s daughter hostage.

The initial mystery surrounding Oslo’s entry into the heavily guarded 26 Fed building prompted concern among viewers, with some fearing the episode would gloss over the logistical challenge in favor of action. However, the show addressed the issue, revealing that Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Isobel and Anna Vorpe were responsible for granting Oslo access, leveraging his skills as a highly sought-after assassin. This explanation, according to CinemaBlend, restored a sense of realism to the episode.

The resolution of the case as well involved uncovering Anna Vorpe’s involvement in orchestrating the events to cover up her own crimes, though Isobel discovered that Vorpe had protection from higher-ups within the government, preventing her exposure. Despite the high stakes of the case, the episode was praised for its suspense and realistic elements, particularly the depiction of OA’s physical dominance over Oslo in a fistfight, a detail noted as believable given OA’s established character.

FBI is currently in its eighth season, following the conclusion of its sister shows, FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International. The series airs on CBS on Mondays at 9 p.m. ET, with a new episode following the conclusion of FBI.
