TOKYO, JAPAN – International film star Fan Bingbing has lauded the Malaysian film crew of Mother Bhumi for fostering an exceptionally collaborative and supportive surroundings, a standout experience in her extensive global career. The Chinese actress, known for roles in X-Men: Days of Future Past and I am Not Madame Bovary, shared her praise during the 38th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) where she was nominated for Best Actress for her performance in the Malaysian-produced film.
Bingbing, who portrays a rice farmer and shaman from Malaysia’s minority Siamese community in Mother Bhumi, highlighted the warmth and professionalism of the crew during filming in Kedah last year. She noted a refreshing difference from other international productions, attributing her strong performance to their dedication and positive energy.
“I was really inspired by their energy. Everyone was so committed and supportive, and the atmosphere was just so positive,” Bingbing told Bernama.She emphasized the crew’s dedication motivated her to deliver her best work.
The actress further remarked on the rare quality of teamwork she observed. “It’s rare to find such genuine teamwork. Everyone trusted and respected one another, and that made every day on set meaningful,” she added. Mother Bhumi is gaining international attention,showcasing Malaysian filmmaking talent and offering a unique cultural perspective.
