After navigating a competitive market, the family shared their excitement on Instagram. “After eleven viewings and nine bids it is finally hit! We bought a house,”
they announced, highlighting the challenges of finding the right property.
**Maarten** and **Gerdine Blom** will be leaving Bodegraven, prompted by more affordable housing options a short distance away. The family is relocating to Waddinxveen. The average home price in Waddinxveen is $475,000, compared to $525,000 in Bodegraven, a difference of about 10% (Numbeo 2024).
Future Plans
The new house offers significantly more space. Renovation work is planned, adding some pressure as **Gerdine** is currently pregnant. “It is a bit tightly planned because of the arrival of our child (at the beginning of September I am calculated and luckily everything is going well),”
she shared.
The family is scheduled to receive the keys to their new home in early October. **Gerdine** anticipates using her maternity leave to focus on the renovation and settling in. “At the same time it is nice that we are going to renovate and move in my leave period, then at least I don’t have to go to work and we can focus entirely on our family and our new home,”
she explained.
Saying Goodbye
The **Blom’s** current home in Bodegraven will be listed for sale in September. “A nice home in a fantastic place, but we just grow out together …”
