F1 Academy Secures Future with Continued team Support Beyond 2025
All ten Formula 1 teams have committed to continuing their support of the F1 Academy series beyond the 2025 season, demonstrating a sustained investment in the development of female racing talent. This extended backing will be granted exclusively to drivers whose performance indicates potential for continued growth throughout a third campaign.
Launched in 2023 as a standalone series, the F1 Academy aims to provide a pathway into motorsport for women and broaden the sport’s appeal, ultimately increasing the number of female drivers. In 2024, the series was integrated onto the support bill at select formula 1 Grand Prix events, with each F1 team sponsoring a driver and branding their car in team colors.
“We’re not just providing a platform for the current generation of female drivers; together we’re building a pathway to support generations of talent to come,” said Susie Wolff, Managing Director of the F1 Academy. “We continue to be impressed by the depth of female talent coming out of the world of karting and are encouraged by the growth and strength of the emerging talent pool.”
The 2024 champion, Abbi Pulling, received backing from Alpine before graduating to the GB3 championship in 2025. Currently, Doriane pin of France leads the 2024 championship standings heading into the final round at the Las vegas Grand Prix (November 20-22) as a Mercedes protégé, while Maya Weug of the Netherlands holds second place as a member of the ferrari Driver Academy.
