Ex-hitman incriminates Nardo clan in drug deals, La Sicilia reports
Salvatore Sam Privitera, a confessed hitman for the Nizza clan, has incriminated senior figures of the Nardo clan of Lentini by detailing long-standing drug supply partnerships carried out even while behind bars, La Sicilia reported. The revelations surfaced within transcripts from a major anti-mafia sweep conducted by the Guardia di Finanza of Catania, designated as the Santuzzi-Gerione blitz, which targeted high-level leadership figures at the end of September.
Confessions from Tolmezzo Prison Reveal Syndicate Drug Supply Lines
Privitera began cooperating with prosecutors from the District Directorate of Antimafia two years ago. During those interrogations, he described the discreet role assumed by Giuseppe Giampapa as an elderly exponent of the Nardo clan. According to the statements, Giampapa authorized affiliate positions and received proceeds from illicit operations, while information was systematically filtered through Antonino Guercio.
Guercio’s Continued Command Behind Bars
Guercio, identified by Privitera as a high-ranking member of the Nardo group, maintained active illicit business relationships spanning years despite his 2022 arrest. The two men sustained these connections while detained together in Tolmezzo prison. The partnership involved drug supply operations funded by clan capital and managed through front companies allegedly set up under the control of an operative known as Jason, operating with explicit authorization from senior Nardo leadership.
Salaries, Liquid Funds, and Real Estate Ventures
Privitera detailed intimate knowledge of Giampapa’s standing within the organization, noting that the senior figure drew a regular salary funded by Guercio alongside direct cuts of criminal revenues. The testimony further indicates that Guercio provided money to Giampapa for the purchase of a property after Giampapa’s release from prison around 2019, when he chose to remain in the background while retaining a senior role.
