New Color Palette and Material Changes
The iPhone 17 series is expected to introduce new colors. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models currently offer five chromatic options. However, the iPhone 17 may replace the bluish green and overseas variants with purple and green. This strategy aims to keep the devices visually fresh and attract consumers seeking personalized choices.
For the high-end models, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, deeper material and design changes are also planned. Reports suggest that the titanium frame may be replaced with aluminum, which could influence the device’s weight and feel. Additionally, the rear of these models might feature a hybrid aluminum and glass design. A new color, heaven blue, is also under consideration.
“The new phones will not radically differ from recent models,” stated a source. They explained this is due to the current trend of screens almost entirely occupying the front surface.

In a report from Bloomberg, Mark Gurman noted that the iPhone 17 series will represent a significant design renewal compared to the iPhone 16 Pro Max. He also mentioned the introduction of a thinner model, tentatively named the iPhone 17 ‘Air.’ The intention is to improve the visual and user experience.
In the first quarter of 2024, Apple’s market share in the smartphone industry was 19.1% globally (Statista, 2024). This highlights the potential impact of design and feature changes on consumer demand.
