Paris’s Arlequin cinema will host a special screening of “Marty Supreme” on February 20th, accompanied by a Timothée Chalamet glance-alike contest, with a unique draw: the cinema is the only one in Europe possessing a 70mm copy of the film.
The event, designed to “eventionalize” the 70mm screening, will invite fans to emulate the actor’s diverse and often striking fashion choices, according to Clara Camon of Maison Dulac cinémas. Contestants are encouraged to draw inspiration from Chalamet’s recent looks, including those seen in promotional material for the film, or even his past appearances as Willy Wonka.
The competition is limited to the first 30 attendees, with the winner receiving a “Marty Supreme” tote bag, tickets to future Dulac Cinémas screenings, and, according to a press release, “eternal glory.” A complimentary beer will be offered to all participating “Chalamesques.” The evening will also feature beer pong, popcorn, and hot dogs.
“Marty Supreme,” directed by Josh Safdie, is a biographical adaptation of the life of American table tennis champion Marty Reisman. The film is generating significant buzz, with Timothée Chalamet considered a frontrunner for Best Actor at the upcoming awards ceremony on March 15th, according to reports.
The Arlequin cinema will offer three 70mm screenings of the film daily, beginning on February 18th, the film’s official release date. Camon emphasized the exceptional image quality afforded by the 70mm format.
This is not the first time Chalamet’s likeness has been the subject of a public competition. In October 2024, a similar contest was held in Washington Square Park in New York City. Miles Mitchell, then 21, won the competition dressed as Willy Wonka, and Chalamet himself reportedly made a surprise appearance at the event.
The Arlequin’s event raises the possibility of another unexpected appearance by the actor, just weeks before the Oscars.
