Eugenio Chacarra Modifies Long Putter for DP World Tour
Eugenio Chacarra secured his status as the first three-time winner on the DP World Tour this season by capturing the DP World India Championship at Delhi Golf Club, relying on a newly modified TaylorMade Spider Tour S long putter. golf.com reported that the Spaniard worked extensively with TaylorMade tour representatives over a four-to-five month window to overhaul his setup on the greens.
The Evolution of a Broomstick Build
Chacarra has utilized a long putter since his collegiate days at Oklahoma State, historically maintaining a standard 79-degree lie angle. Working alongside TaylorMade Tour Rep Alex Marine and fellow rep James Holley, the player and equipment staff identified a mechanical flaw during the BMW PGA Championship in September.
Marine noted that Chacarra was aiming left and toeing the ball inward to start putts on line, which led to speed inconsistencies. Engineers and fitters discovered that flattening the lie angle from 79 degrees to 76 degrees allowed the player to position his eye line more directly inside the ball.
He would aim left and toe it in in an attempt to start it online, which created inconsistent speed. We found that if the putter was flatter, he would be able to get his eye line more inside the ball and line it up better. — Alex Marine
The resulting equipment build features a total weight of 870 grams, combining the high MOI stability of the Spider Tour S chassis with a Pure Roll insert designed to match his stroke dynamics. Alongside the equipment shift, Chacarra integrated the GRASP Smart Putting gate into his practice sessions to correct a tendency of lifting his head prematurely during short backswings.
Statistical Shifts on the Greens
The modifications produced an immediate impact on the player’s performance metrics on the DP World Tour. golf.com noted that Chacarra ranked outside the top 75 in adjusted Strokes Gained: Putting prior to the equipment change. Since adopting the modified Spider Tour S Long, he climbed to third on the tour in the same category.
Additional performance gains showed in intermediate range putting. Statistics from golf.com indicate conversion rates from 6 to 12 feet rose from 11 percent across five events prior to the switch to 48 percent afterward, while three-putts from outside 30 feet dropped by five percent.
europeantour.com reported that at the Delhi Golf Club layout, Chacarra gained 2.16 shots on average per round on the greens, finishing fifth in Strokes Gained: Putting for the week. The victory elevated him to the top spot in the Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World.

Bag Configuration at Delhi Golf Club
The tournament setup at Delhi Golf Club placed a premium on accuracy over distance due to thick rough and narrow fairways measuring 6,912 yards. europeantour.com reported that Chacarra was one of 112 players carrying a utility iron, opting for a TaylorMade Tour Preferred UDI one-iron in place of a traditional three-wood.
His complete equipment list for the victory, supplied by Inside Tour Golf and detailed by europeantour.com, includes a Titleist GTS2 driver, a TaylorMade P-770 25-degree three-iron, TaylorMade P-7MC irons from four through nine, Titleist Vokey SM10 wedges in 43, 48, and 53 degrees, a Titleist Vokey SM11 60-degree wedge, the TaylorMade Spider Tour S putter, and a Titleist Pro V1 golf ball.
Following his win in Delhi, Chacarra travels to South Korea for his 29th start of the season at the Genesis Championship.
