The escalating unrest poses potential risks to aviation, local populations, and regional air quality.
Recent data compiled from Smithsonian / USGS Weekly and Daily Volcanic Activity Reports, and Volcanic Ash Advisories, indicates meaningful activity at several key volcanoes. In Indonesia, ibu volcano is experiencing ongoing activity, while Marapi erupted in December 2023. Semeru continues to exhibit heightened unrest. Further afield, reventador in Ecuador and Fuego in guatemala remain active, with ongoing eruptions and ash plumes. In the Pacific, White Island (New Zealand) issued a volcanic Ash Advisory on June 9, 2025.
