Erika Mokrý Announces Her Divorce After Years of Marriage

Slovak influencer Erika Mokrý announced her divorce, sharing the decision on social media after years of marriage that included weathering a breast cancer diagnosis together, Diva.sk reported.

The Background of a Tested Relationship

The relationship faced severe trials early on when Mokrý was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 28, just weeks after becoming engaged and planning a wedding. In an earlier interview cited by the source material, Mokrý recounted returning her engagement ring after her diagnosis and telling her partner to find a healthy partner. He refused the request and insisted on marrying in a small ceremony a month later. During that period, the couple also dealt with fertility concerns due to aggressive treatment, though Mokrý ultimately conceived naturally. Their son, Elias, was born in late December 2020. Shortly after his birth, the family encountered another challenge when Mokrý experienced postpartum depression.

The Public Announcement and Value of Choice

Reflecting on the end of the marriage, Mokrý wrote in her recent public post that some stories do not end because of a lack of good moments, but because they can no longer continue. She noted that she had spent many years showing primarily the brighter version of their story, acknowledging that while those good moments were real, they did not represent the entirety of their shared life. The fact that you survived a lot with someone does not mean you have to stay with them forever, she noted, emphasizing that gratitude for the past and the decision to leave can exist simultaneously. Underneath the announcement, other public figures who have experienced divorce, including presenter Miriam Kalisová and podcast author Michaela Králiková, offered support.
