Brookfield Expands Nordic Portfolio with Acquisition of EQT‘s Swedish industrial & Warehouse Properties

Stockholm,Sweden – december 19,2023 – Brookfield has significantly expanded it’s Nordic real estate holdings with the acquisition of a substantial portfolio of Swedish industrial and warehouse properties from EQT Real Estate. The deal, encompassing 59 properties previously held by Svenska Verksamhetfastigheter, underscores growing investor interest in the region’s logistics and industrial sectors.

The portfolio sale reflects EQT’s successful investment strategy focused on value creation within Swedish industrial and warehouse properties. Over time, EQT built and refined a high-quality portfolio prioritizing tenant needs, benefiting from the properties’ strategic locations near growing cities and key logistics hubs.

“the successful sale of the portfolio is a result of our investment strategy focused on clear value creation for Swedish industrial and warehouse properties,” said Olivier Astruc, Managing Director at EQT Real Estate.”We are pleased to have found the right owner who can continue to develop the portfolio.”

Brookfield’s investment in the portfolio adds to its existing Nordic assets, now totaling over USD 13 billion in AUM across various asset types. The company has been actively increasing its presence in the region, including a recent first investment in the housing market through Unity in October, and a majority ownership stake in Nordiqus following a deal with SBB regarding their housing stock.

Further demonstrating its commitment to Sweden, Brookfield is also planning a substantial investment in a data center in Strängnäs, potentially reaching SEK 95 billion.

EQT real Estate was advised on the sale by CBRE (commercial), Schjødt (legal), EY (financial), and Tjuren (technical). Separately, EQT recently sold a property in Trelleborg to Ica fastigheter.
