Endicott vs. Saint Joseph's (Me.) Match Play-by-Play: Third Period Highlights

Endicott vs. Saint Joseph’s (Me.) Match Play-by-Play: Third Period Highlights

October 20, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

Endicott pressured Saint Joseph’s (Me.) heavily during the third period of their field hockey matchup, registering a relentless wave of shots and penalty corners as goalkeeper Kimberley McLaughlin anchored a resilient defensive stand.

Third-Period Pressure Mounts in Maine

Play resumed at the 30:00 mark with Endicott deploying a starting unit featuring Sabrina Brunet, Kathleen Culmo, Abby Antonelli, Madison Barwood, Lily Johnson, Annie Harwich, Lexi Santoro, Elena Govoni, Lilli Mitchell, Kate Harris, and Faith Minickene. Saint Joseph’s countered with Katie Yeaton, Macy Hickey, Chloe Masse, Myia SeeHusen, Ava Markham, Lily Huntley, Dasia Alberico, Zoey Lailer, Gabriella Thomas, Jordan Hurrell, and Kimberley McLaughlin.

Offensive pressure arrived quickly for the visitors. At 30:54, Sabrina Brunet fired the period’s opening shot, which McLaughlin swept aside for a save. Brunet tested the Saint Joseph’s defense again moments later, sending an attempt wide at 33:38 before getting another shot blocked at 33:57. Elena Govoni added a targeted shot at 34:24, but McLaughlin stood firm to collect her second save of the quarter.

Benches Rotate Players as Endicott Earns Penalty Corner

Both benches worked through deep rotations as the period wore on. Saint Joseph’s pulled Myia SeeHusen for Olivea Miller at 34:40, while Endicott swapped Madison Barwood for Allison Fijux and Ella Perry for Annie Harwich at 35:56. Saint Joseph’s also inserted Alex Graf to replace Lily Huntley during the same stoppage.

Endicott earned a penalty corner at 38:05, executed by Elena Govoni. Lily Johnson followed with a shot at 38:11, though McLaughlin denied the bid. Following another wave of substitutions that brought fresh legs onto the pitch, Endicott overwhelmed the circle at the 40-minute mark. Brunet, Govoni, and Perry rattled off three shots in a span of fifteen seconds from 40:05 to 40:15, and McLaughlin turned away every single attempt.

Defensive Stays and Continuing Stalemate

Govoni earned penalty corners at 40:41 and 41:59, orchestrating sustained offensive zone possession. Perry and Brunet both tested the defense, producing a blocked shot by Perry and saves by McLaughlin. Saint Joseph’s continued mixing personnel, cycling Dasia Alberico, Jordan Hurrell, and Emma Casale through the midfield and backline to absorb the Endicott attack.

As substitutions continued late into the period with Lilli Mitchell stepping in for Kathleen Culmo at 42:50, neither side had broken the defensive deadlock, leaving the outcome entirely dependent on the remaining minutes of regulation.
