Regis Defeats Saint Joseph’s 2-0 in GNAC Women’s Soccer
Saint Joseph’s College women’s soccer dropped a 2-0 decision to Regis College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play on Saturday at the SJC Athletics Complex, as the Pride secured the victory, gomonks.com reported.
Regis Seizes Early Control at the SJC Athletics Complex
The visiting Pride manufactured the game’s opening breakthrough at the 14:10 mark of the first half. Andrea Perez found the back of the net to put Regis ahead, utilizing an assist from Mia Carll. Saint Joseph’s struggled to generate clean looks against a disciplined Regis defense through the remainder of the opening frame, carrying a 1-0 deficit into the halftime intermission.
Regis extended its lead shortly after the break. Leah Snyder scored an unassisted goal at the 54:53 mark, doubling the advantage to 2-0 and shifting the pressure entirely onto the Monks.
Defensive Resistance and Stifled Opportunities for Saint Joseph’s
Trailing by two, the Monks attempted to mount a response immediately following Snyder’s strike. Saint Joseph’s put a shot on target less than five minutes after the second goal, but Regis goalkeeper Nora Ross turned the attempt away to preserve the clean sheet.
Junior goalkeeper Ashlyn Guerette anchored the Saint Joseph’s defense under heavy fire, recording nine of her 13 total saves during the second half alone. Guerette kept the Monks within striking distance across all 90 minutes of action, though the offense could not break through Ross and the Regis backline.
The statistical ledger showed the visitors' territorial control over the course of the afternoon. Regis finished the contest holding advantages in total shots at 26-4, shots on goal at 15-1, and corner kicks at 6-4.
Historical Series Shifts Toward the Pride
With Saturday’s result, Saint Joseph’s moves to 3-6-3 overall and 3-3-2 in conference play, while Regis improves to 11-1-1 overall and 7-1-0 in GNAC action. Historically, the Monks still hold a 5-3-2 all-time edge in the head-to-head series against Regis, but Saturday’s outcome marks the third victory for the Pride in the matchup.

Saint Joseph’s looks to rebound when the squad travels to face Elms College in Chicopee, Massachusetts, on Wednesday, October 14, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 PM.
