Actor Emre Bulut Accused of Obtaining Vehicle using False Police impersonation
ISTANBUL – Actor Emre Bulut, known for roles in productions like Borderless sevda, Sipahi, and Winter Sun, is facing legal action following allegations he fraudulently obtained a vehicle from a civilian. Bulut was charged by the Tokat Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office with “abuse of trust,” carrying a potential sentence of six months to two years imprisonment.
The case stems from a complaint filed by a citizen identified as A.U., who alleges Bulut used a fake police badge to convince him to loan a vehicle. According to reports, Bulut claimed to be a police commissioner and requested temporary use of the vehicle, purportedly to travel to Amasya. A.U. reportedly handed over the vehicle in a hospital parking lot.
When A.U.was unable to reach Bulut to retrieve the vehicle, he filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor’s office. Bulut was subsequently detained and appeared before the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance.
During his defense, Bulut stated he knew A.U. from the hospital and borrowed the vehicle for work, claiming he returned it later the same day after A.U.requested its return. He also reportedly requested acquittal, referencing the police badge.
Bulut was released after rejecting the allegations. The investigation remains ongoing.
