Emporia State Dominates Mid-American Regional Disc Golf Championship, securing Multiple Titles
Champions Landing, Kansas – Emporia State University’s disc golf team achieved a sweep of singles titles and established strong positions in team competition at the Mid-American Regional Championship, concluding Saturday with promising outlooks for Sunday’s final rounds.Grant Yoder claimed the D2 men’s singles title, adding to the Hornets‘ impressive performance.
The Mid-American Regional championship serves as a crucial qualifier for the National Disc Golf Championship,determining which teams and individuals will advance to compete for a national title. Emporia State’s success positions them favorably for qualification, while also solidifying their reputation as a leading programme in collegiate disc golf. The Hornets are currently competing in both D1 and D2 divisions, showcasing the depth of their talent.
In D1 men’s competition, the Emporia State team of Tatro, Carter ahrens, and TJ Reel finished the first two rounds tied for first at -5, than moved to -14 after a nine-under team performance, placing them third overall-two strokes behind Liberty and one behind Oklahoma Christian-heading into Sunday’s final round.
The women’s competition sees an intra-team battle for the lead,with madelin Joiner and Isabella Parker holding a two-stroke advantage over teammates Krueger and Maya Ringgold. Joiner and parker are at even par, while Krueger and Ringgold are at +2. Hesston College, ranked #11 nationally, trails at +15.
Emporia State’s D2 men’s team-caden Stucky, Grant Yoder, Joshua Sterner, and Isaiah Esquivel-holds a commanding seven-stroke lead at -17. They opened with a -11 team round and followed with a -6 singles performance, leading KU by one stroke and Wichita State by two.
Sunday’s final round will begin with the D2 men at 10:30 a.m., followed by the D1 men’s lead card at 11:40 a.m. The women’s lead card, an all-Emporia State pairing, will tee off at 12:30 p.m., all from Champions Landing.
