Emotional Expression Workshops: Theatre & Wellbeing – Free Classes
A novel initiative offering free emotional expression workshops through theatrical techniques is set to launch in Zaragoza, Spain, beginning January 28th, 2026. The program, titled “Teatro de las Emociones” (Theatre of Emotions), aims to provide a safe and creative environment for adults to explore and manage their emotional lives.
Organized by AFDA (Asociación de Trastornos Depresivos de Aragón), the workshops will be held at Harinera ZGZ, specifically in the Jardín Sergio Algora, on Wednesdays from 12:00 to 13:30. Sessions are scheduled for January 28th, February 11th and 25th, March 11th and 25th, April 15th and 29th, May 13th and 27th. The program is open to individuals aged 18 and over, and participation is free, though spaces are limited.
The “Teatro de las Emociones” approach utilizes theatrical tools such as play, improvisation, character creation, and the enactment of both everyday and symbolic situations. According to program materials, the goal is to help participants connect with their emotions, articulate them through words and actions, and share them within a supportive setting. The initiative builds on the long-established role of theatre as a medium for exploring human emotion, as noted by Siglos De Teatro, which describes theatre as a powerful means of expression and communication.
AFDA can be contacted for registration via WhatsApp at 691 846 596. Further information about the association is available through their website at http://www.asociacionafda.com/, or by phone at 976 443 754. The program is part of a broader Harinera ZGZ cultural program running from January to June 2026.
A similar concept, “Teatro y Emociones: Conectando a Través de las Artes Escénicas,” is being implemented in educational settings for students over 17, focusing on the study of emotions through theatre and the construction of theatrical scripts. This plan of class, published in February 2025, integrates techniques of programming neurolinguistic to help students express their feelings and recognize themselves through theatre.
