Ella Langley Tulsa Concert Canceled Due to Security Threat
Country singer Ella Langley canceled her scheduled concert at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Friday, October 9, due to a serious security threat. While venue officials and the artist cited safety concerns for fans and staff, the Tulsa Police Department later stated that officers found no credible threat following two separate K-9 sweeps of the building.
Security Threat Cancels Ella Langley Tulsa Show
Langley was slated to perform in Tulsa as part of her ongoing Dandelion Tour, which supports her second studio album. On Friday afternoon, both the artist and the BOK Center released statements announcing the cancellation. “Due to a serious security threat involving the safety of fans, venue personnel, and the artist, Ella Langley’s scheduled performance tonight at the BOK Center in Tulsa has been canceled,” venue officials stated. In a video and post on social media, Langley told ticket holders that the choice was made under the advisement of local authorities, the venue, and her security team. “Your safety will always mean more to me than anything else. I refuse to put anyone in harm’s way,” Langley wrote, apologizing for the disruption to fans who had traveled and planned for the event.
Police Find No Danger During Venue Searches
According to the Tulsa Police Department, law enforcement handled two separate security calls regarding the venue on Friday. Capt. Richard Meulenberg of the Tulsa Police Department explained that officers initially conducted a pre-concert sweep of the premises using bomb-detection dogs and found no threats, clearing the event to proceed. Police later received a second call warning that people at the event could be harmed by gunfire and bombs. Officers returned to the venue for additional searches with bomb-detection dogs and again found no indication of danger. “We advised the group that was supposed to perform tonight that we did not find a credible threat, and we would never tell anybody if we couldn’t find a credible threat to cancel their event, so they made the decision to cancel their event tonight,” Meulenberg stated. A spokesperson confirmed on Friday afternoon that the FBI was assisting with the investigation.
BOK Center Promises Refunds for Ticket Holders
The sudden cancellation left many concertgoers who had purchased tickets months in advance facing disappointment. BOK Center officials stated that information regarding ticket refunds would be shared as soon as possible. Langley’s Dandelion Tour kicked off in May in Toledo, Ohio, and included a recent performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. According to her scheduled itinerary, she is slated to perform next on October 10 in Lubbock, Texas, followed by a two-night run at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, with the tour concluding on October 31 at the Grand Casino Arena in Saint Paul, Minnesota. In September, her song "Choosin' Texas" became the longest-running number-one song in Billboard Hot 100 history with 23 weeks at the top.
