Eileen O’Riordan, a resident of Kanturk, County Cork, Ireland, died unexpectedly but peacefully on February 18, 2026, at Cork University Hospital, surrounded by family. She was 82.

Born Eileen O’Sullivan, she was the wife of Seámus O’Riordan and mother to Mark, Sharon Walsh, Mardy O’Rahilly Drew, and Shaun. She is survived by eleven grandchildren: Noah, Sammy, Ethan, Aimee, Sophia, Eryn, Bayley, Leah, Alysse, Sarah, and Naomi.

Mrs. O’Riordan is also survived by her brothers Tom, John, and Dano; sisters Kathleen, Madge, and Mary; daughters-in-law Conxi and Jess; sons-in-law Ray and Niall; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends. She was predeceased by her sisters Ann and Jacqueline, and her brother Padraig.

Reposing will accept place at Grace’s Funeral Home in Kanturk (P51 WDX8) on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 6:00 PM, with prayers commencing at 8:00 PM. A Requiem Mass will be held at The Church of the Immaculate Conception, Kanturk, on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 3:00 PM, and will be available for viewing online. Following the Mass, Mrs. O’Riordan will be interred at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Kanturk.

The death of Mrs. O’Riordan comes during a period where Ireland has been publicly acknowledging the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, with a recent display of over 7,000 roses in Dublin to honor victims of the virus.

Recent death notices published in Ireland include reports from Longford on July 18, 2025, and from Tipperary on August 1, 2025, indicating a consistent pattern of public acknowledgement of loss within the country.
