Egypt Wins 2025 African Women’s Youth Handball Championship

Egypt Claims Sixth Consecutive CAHB African WomenS Youth Handball Championship ​Title, Qualifies for⁢ 2026 World Championship

Oran, Algeria – Egypt secured their sixth straight‌ title⁣ at the ​2025 Confederation of African ​Handball (CAHB) African Women’s Youth Handball Championship, held in Oran, Algeria, further solidifying their dominance in the competition. The victory also guarantees Egypt a spot in the ​2026 ⁤IHF Women’s Youth World Championship.

Eleven teams competed in the⁢ tournament, ‌which served as⁢ a qualifying event for the World Championship and the African Continental phase of the IHF trophy Women 2025. Teams were divided into two groups for the initial stage. ⁣

Egypt showcased their strength wiht a perfect preliminary round, defeating⁢ Zambia, hosts algeria (36:15), ⁢burkina Faso (32:17), and Guinea (24:20). ⁢This performance secured first‌ place in their group. Guinea followed, ‍tying Algeria on points but ⁢advancing with a superior goal difference (+33 to Algeria’s +7).

In Group A, Tunisia‍ dominated, winning against Kenya (36:28), Madagascar, Nigeria (50:25), Benin ‍(41:19),‍ and Angola (30:19). Angola, historically the second most triumphant team in the championship,‍ finished second after ⁣securing wins against⁤ Benin, Kenya​ (23:18), Madagascar (22:12), and nigeria (23:20).

Egypt then overcame Angola in ⁣a tightly contested semi-final, winning⁤ 19:16 after‍ leading ‍13:7 at ⁢halftime.​ Tunisia secured their place in the final with a 25:23 victory over Guinea.

The final saw Egypt take control from the outset, ultimately defeating Tunisia 33:21, establishing⁤ a commanding seven-goal lead by halftime (16:9). ⁤Guinea‍ claimed the bronze medal with ‌an⁢ 18:11 win over ⁤Angola, securing their third⁢ consecutive​ podium‌ finish.

With‌ this result, Egypt, tunisia, Guinea,⁤ and ⁤Angola have all qualified for the 2026 IHF ‌Women’s Youth World Championship.‍

Guinea also emerged ⁣victorious ​in the‌ IHF ⁤Trophy Women 2025, which ran​ concurrently as the African Continental Phase, bringing together the‍ winners from the year’s five zonal competitions.

The final standings of the 2025 CAHB African Women’s Youth Handball​ Championship are as follows:

Egypt’s success extended beyond the youth championship,as they⁣ also won the 2025 CAHB‍ African Women’s Junior ⁤Handball Championship,achieving titles in ‌both age ‌categories for the first time in their history.⁤ Egypt’s winning ⁤streak in‍ the ⁣Youth Championship now stands at 34 matches, with their⁢ last defeat coming in 2015 against Angola.
