US Delegation Explores Investment Opportunities in Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone
A US delegation, comprised of representatives from leading infrastructure, technology, and logistics companies, is visiting Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) to explore potential investment opportunities. The visit included a meeting between SCZONE Chairperson Walid Gamal El-din and US Ambassador to Cairo, Herro Mustafa Garg.
Gamal El-Din highlighted the SCZONE’s strategic importance and potential for collaboration, particularly in infrastructure, energy, digital solutions, and industrial software. Ambassador Garg emphasized the potential for American companies to contribute to port advancement, capacity building, and technology transfer, leading to “shared prosperity, job creation, and economic growth.”
The delegation toured the East Port Said area, including the Suez Canal Container Terminal (SCCT) and the $65 million “Sky” multi-purpose terminal currently under construction. Companies represented in the delegation include Bechtel, Cisco Systems, Hill International, and others. The visit continues with an inspection of the Sokhna port.
Both Egyptian and American officials expressed optimism that the partnership will foster sustainable development, innovation, and enhanced security and stability for both nations.
