EFF Book Events: Digital Rights, AI, and Privacy Discussions

EFF Highlights Upcoming ⁤Events Celebrating Books on ⁣Tech,‌ Democracy,‍ and Privacy

SAN FRANCISCO, ​CA – November 20, ‍2023 – The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) is⁣ hosting ⁣a series of events ​this winter and ​spring centered ⁢around new books exploring the‍ intersection of technology, civil liberties, and building a more equitable future. These events​ feature prominent‍ voices in the fields of digital rights,‌ speculative fiction, ⁤and political science.

On​ December 3 at 6:00 PM pacific Time, the EFF will join⁤ an online discussion with EFF Board Member Bruce Schneier and Nathan E. ‌Sanders about their new book,⁢ Rewiring Democracy: How AI Will Transform ⁣our Politics, Government, and‍ Citizenship. EFF’s Cindy Cohn will participate in a conversation examining the impact of artificial‌ intelligence on democracy and strategies for responsible implementation.

Prior ⁢to that,on November 30,Cohn⁢ will also be ‍a panelist at “We Will Rise‌ Again,” a discussion featuring Annalee Newitz,Charlie Jane Anders,Reo Eveleth,Andrea Dehlendorf,and ​Vida Jame.⁢ The event will explore how speculative ​fiction can help ⁤us⁤ critically analyze technology and envision a better⁣ world, focusing on themes of disability⁤ justice, environmental activism, community care, and collective worldbuilding.

Looking ahead to March,‍ the ​EFF will begin celebrating⁤ the release of Cindy ​Cohn’s own‍ book, Privacy’s Defender, chronicling her thirty-year fight to protect digital privacy. The frist event is scheduled for⁣ Tuesday,March 10 at City Lights ‍bookstore.
