Ecovacs Promises “Unlimited” Battery Life with New Robotic Vacuum
Oslo, Norway – September 6, 2024 – ecovacs Robotics is generating buzz with claims of “unlimited” battery life for its forthcoming robotic vacuum cleaner, currently known as the X2 Omni. A sneak peek revealed at a pre-IFA 2024 event showcases a novel base station capable of swapping batteries for continuous cleaning, effectively eliminating runtime limitations. The company anticipates launching the device in early 2025.
This advancement addresses a key consumer pain point with robotic vacuums: limited operating time. Current models typically require recharging after 60-120 minutes, interrupting cleaning cycles, notably in larger homes. Ecovacs’ solution, if realized in consumer testing, could fundamentally alter the robotic vacuum market, potentially making fully automated home cleaning a practical reality for all home sizes. The X2 Omni’s base station houses multiple batteries, automatically replacing depleted ones as needed, allowing the vacuum to operate indefinitely.
Ecovacs has not yet disclosed specific details regarding battery capacity, charging speeds, or the number of batteries included with the X2 Omni. However, the company emphasized the base station’s ability to handle continuous operation without user intervention. Beyond the battery innovation, the X2 Omni is expected to feature upgraded navigation, obstacle avoidance, and cleaning performance compared to previous Ecovacs models.
The robotic vacuum market has experienced significant growth in recent years, driven by increasing demand for convenience and automation in household chores. According to Statista, the global robotic vacuum cleaner market was valued at approximately $7.8 billion in 2023 and is projected to reach $16.3 billion by 2028. Ecovacs is currently a leading player in this market, competing with brands like iRobot, roborock, and samsung. The X2 Omni is slated for full unveiling at IFA 2024 in Berlin, September 6-10.
