Prominent Economist Daniela Desormeaux Departs Vantaz Group
Santiago, Chile - Daniela Desormeaux, a leading economist in Chile’s mining sector, is leaving Vantaz Group, the country’s largest mining consultancy, effective December 5th. Her departure marks the end of a five-year tenure where she spearheaded the firm’s Studies area.
Desormeaux’s move comes as she pursues personal projects, according to sources at Financial diary.While stepping down from her role at Vantaz, she will remain involved in the Chilean mining industry thru her continued positions on the board of directors of the Center for Copper and Mining Studies (Cesco) and as an MBA academic at the Universidad del Desarrollo.
Before joining Vantaz, Desormeaux founded signumBOX in 2009, a consulting firm specializing in market intelligence for natural and mineral resource industries.Her prior experience includes roles as an economic analyst for the Chilean Chamber of Construction (2003-2006) and as a permanent member of the National Lithium Commission between 2014 and 2015.
During her time at Vantaz, Desormeaux led significant projects including the “Signs of Mining” study, developed in collaboration with Cesco, and contributed to analyses of macroeconomic trends, sustainability strategies, and sector-specific research. She also played a key role in initiatives focused on diversity and inclusion, notably contributing to the report “Women in Mining,” which tracks progress and identifies gaps in gender equality within the industry. Desormeaux was recently recognized as one of the 100 Women Mining Leaders in Chile for her expertise in lithium, natural resource economics, and sustainability.
