Dyson has unveiled the PencilWash, a modern wet floor cleaner designed for hard surfaces, building on the innovations of its recently released PencilVac and Clean+Wash Hygiene models. The device, announced February 18, 2026, is slated for release in the UK on February 23 and in the US on March 17, with an Australian launch following on March 5.
The PencilWash distinguishes itself through a focus on compactness and maneuverability. Dyson has engineered the motor and battery to fit entirely within a 1.5-inch diameter handle, a design choice that allows for easy storage and operation. The water tanks are integrated directly into the floorhead, contributing to the device’s overall slim profile. According to Dyson, the cleaner weighs just 4.9 pounds.
Unlike many wet-and-dry vacuums, the PencilWash does not rely on suction to clean floors. Instead, it utilizes a combination of hydration, agitation, and extraction technologies to remove dirt and spills, employing only fresh water throughout the cleaning process. The design eliminates the need for a traditional filter, reducing the potential for blockages and odors, as the wastewater tank is positioned within the floorhead.
John Churchill, Dyson’s Chief Technology Officer, stated that the PencilWash represents a commitment to creating smaller, lighter machines without sacrificing performance. “We’re keen on making machines smaller and lighter while dramatically improving performance. PencilWash™ applies that thinking to wet cleaning: our slimmest, ultra-light format that glides effortlessly and reaches where others can’t,” Churchill said in a press release.
The device is designed to reach along walls and under furniture, laying flat to a height of just 5.9 inches. Dyson claims a single tank of water is sufficient for cleaning up to 100 square meters of flooring.
The PencilWash will be available for $349 in the US, £299.99 in the UK, and AU$499 in Australia.
