Richmond Spiders Women’s basketball Defeats Davidson in Thrilling Triple-Overtime Game

Richmond, VA – January 10, 2024 – The Richmond Spiders secured a hard-fought 91-84 triple-overtime victory over the Davidson Wildcats in an Atlantic 10 Conference matchup. The game featured 14 lead changes and 15 ties, ultimately decided by a dominant performance from Maggie Doogan, who shattered the program’s single-game scoring record.

Game Highlights:

* Maggie Doogan exploded for a record-breaking 48 points, surpassing Karen elsner’s 39-point performance from 1983. Her performance also marked the most points scored in an NCAA Division I game this season and the most in an Atlantic 10 Conference game ever. Doogan also tied the program record with 17 field goals made, shooting 17-of-28 from the field, 8-of-12 from three-point range, and a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line. She added 13 rebounds for her 18th career double-double.
* Ally Sweeney contributed 18 points, while rachel Ullstrom added 12. Tierra Simon led the team with five assists.
* Rayne Wright made her first collegiate start, finishing with four points, two rebounds, two assists, a steal, and two blocks.
