Dongfeng Motor Group has announced plans to introduce an electric vehicle equipped with solid-state battery technology capable of achieving a 1,000-kilometer (621-mile) range by 2026. The Chinese automaker detailed its ambitions ‌alongside expectations for exceptionally fast charging capabilities.

This development signals a significant leap forward in electric vehicle technology, possibly alleviating range anxiety-a ‍major barrier to wider EV adoption-and reducing charging times. The advancement impacts consumers, automotive manufacturers, and the broader energy sector as the demand for longer-range, quickly rechargeable EVs increases. Dongfeng anticipates initial‍ deployment of ⁣the combined technology in experimental vehicles by late 2027, with broader availability following detailed technology⁣ refinement.

According to reports, the pairing of a‌ 1,000-kilometer range with ⁢rapid charging will initially be limited to test vehicles by the end of 2027, allowing for further development and optimization of the technology before wider release. ⁣Dongfeng intends to provide detailed ⁤insights into the ⁣solid-state battery technology in the intervening period.
