Paris Claims Kvitfjell Downhill Victory, Secures Third in Discipline Ranking
Kvitfjell, Norway – March 21, 2026 – Dominik Paris of Italy won the downhill race in Kvitfjell, Norway, part of the Alpine Ski World Cup Finals. The 36-year-old finished the course in 1’45"37, marking his seventh victory on Norwegian snow – six in downhill and one in super-G.
Paris finished ahead of Switzerland’s Franjo Von Allmen by 0.19 seconds, and Austria’s Vincent Kriechmayr by 0.60 seconds. Marco Odermatt, who had already secured the downhill title, finished seventh, 0.92 seconds behind Paris.
With this win, Paris also claimed third place in the downhill discipline ranking with 441 points, surpassing Giovanni Franzoni, who finished 11th with a time of 1’46"68.
“It wasn’t a perfect performance, but I tried to let the skis run,” Paris said. “I had good sensations and felt good. Seeing the best time at the finish line was beautiful. My friends and my mother are here: it’s nice to win in front of them and I’m happy to have repeated my success here after last year.”
Other Italian skiers in the top ten included Benjamin Jacques Alliod in eighth place (1’46"49) and Florian Schieder in tenth (1’46"54). Mattia Casse finished 20th and Christof Innerhofer finished 21st.
Paris remained noncommittal about his future plans, stating, “I took third place in the discipline ranking from Franzoni, he was a little disappointed but had a great season. Retirement? There’s another important race tomorrow, then we’ll see.”
