Dominik Mysterio has addressed his sister Aalyah Gutierrez beginning full-time training at the WWE Performance Center, offering a mix of familial support and characteristically sharp warnings about choosing factions within the company. Speaking during an interview with Fernando Ramirez on Compas On The Beat, Dominik weighed in on his sister’s entry into the professional wrestling business.
Entering the Performance Center and Family Legacy
Aalyah Gutierrez, 24, graduated from the University of California San Diego in July 2025 with a degree in human biology, a milestone her father Rey Mysterio previously set as a mandatory prerequisite before she could explore a wrestling career. According to coverage from PWInsider, Rey noted that Aalyah spent roughly a year and a half asking him for an opportunity before stepping into a ring. Her introduction to the industry included a September 2025 training session at Dungeon 2.0 alongside Rey, Natalya, and TJ Wilson, followed by visits to the WWE Performance Center and a subsequent two-week full-time training block in February.
PWInsider reported that Aalyah is training full-time at the facility and is listed on WWE’s internal roster under her real name. She has also been pictured at the training facility alongside Marie Malenko and Lexis King. While WWE has not publicly announced an official talent contract, her presence at the Performance Center marks a formal step toward an in-ring career.
Dominik Mysterio Reacts to His Sister’s Career Change
In his interview on Compas On The Beat, Dominik expressed surprise at his sister’s career shift, citing her academic background. As reported by PWInsider, Dominik remarked on her transition into an industry he once assumed she would bypass due to her studies. “She’s going to have her opportunity. I never thought she’d get in the business because she was the smart one. She’s got her degree and everything. So, she came in, and I guess she’s down at the PC doing her thing,” Dominik stated.
Dominik also issued a pointed warning regarding brand alignment and family politics within WWE. Having broken away from Rey Mysterio to join The Judgment Day—a run that yielded two reigns as the NXT North American Championship, an Intercontinental Championship reign, and the AAA Mega Championship—Dominik framed the sibling dynamic in starkly utilitarian terms. “Only thing I can say is, there’s two Mysterios out there. Pick the right one. You’ve seen how this goes. She’s got two options to pick from, and one of them is going out the door, and one of them is taking over this b—-, so choose wisely,” he said.
Television History and Future Storyline Potential
Aalyah is no stranger to WWE television, having featured prominently in high-profile angles during 2020 alongside Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy, as well as appearing ringside at WrestleMania 39. Despite her previous on-screen involvement, she has never wrestled a sanctioned match for the company.
Rey Mysterio has repeatedly emphasized that Aalyah is under no obligation to continue if she finds the industry unsuited to her expectations, noting in an interview on The Undertaker’s Six Feet Under that the drive must originate internally.
