DOLE Hosts Multiple Job Fairs Across the Philippines, Hiring Over 4,000 Job Seekers in June

June 13, 2026 Emma Walker – News Editor News

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) facilitated the hiring of hundreds of jobseekers during a series of nationwide recruitment events held on June 12, coinciding with the Philippines’ 128th Independence Day. Government-led job fairs in Metro Manila, Cagayan, and Nueva Ecija offered thousands of vacancies, resulting in hundreds of immediate employment offers for local applicants.

### Employment outcomes in Metro Manila and regional hubs
In Valenzuela City, Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma oversaw the “Trabaho Agad” job fair, which provided 1,635 employment opportunities for residents. According to DOLE, the event focused on direct hiring, matching local jobseekers with employers requiring immediate staffing.

Simultaneously, a separate recruitment event held in the National Capital Region resulted in the hiring of 300 individuals on the spot. The Philippine News Agency reported that the event prioritized first-time job seekers, allowing successful candidates to bypass extended waiting periods for placement.

### Vacancy distribution across provinces
The scale of recruitment varied by location, reflecting localized labor market demands. In Cagayan, organizers opened 1,500 job vacancies for the public. These positions spanned various industries, though officials did not provide a specific breakdown of sectors represented.

In Nueva Ecija, the regional DOLE office synchronized its efforts with the Independence Day celebrations to integrate livelihood and employment services. While the agency emphasized the volume of available roles, the final tally of “hired-on-the-spot” (HOTS) candidates in this province remains subject to ongoing processing by participating employers.

### Comparison of hiring metrics
Data from the June 12 events illustrate a distinction between total available vacancies and immediate placements. While the Cagayan job fair marketed 1,500 openings, the reported 300 successful hires in the Metro Manila event highlight the difference between total listed roles and the number of applicants who meet specific employer criteria during a single-day recruitment window.

The Department of Labor and Employment has yet to release a consolidated national report detailing the total number of successful hires across all participating local government units. The agency’s next steps include the validation of recruitment reports from regional offices to determine the long-term retention rate of those hired during the Independence Day initiatives.
