Dolby Vision 2 Ushers in New Era of TV Picture Quality, First Implementation Coming from [Brand Name]
LAS VEGAS – Dolby Laboratories today unveiled Dolby Vision 2, a significant advancement in high dynamic range (HDR) television technology promising greater creative control and enhanced picture quality for viewers. The first televisions featuring the new standard will be manufactured by [Brand Name],utilizing the MediaTek Pentonic 800 processor with its Miravision Pro engine.
This update arrives as the television landscape rapidly evolves, with artists demanding more sophisticated tools to realize their vision at home. Dolby Vision 2 aims to bridge the gap between creative intent and the final viewing experience by offering increased precision and adaptability in how content is displayed. While nearly 350 existing TV models from brands including LG, TCL, Sony, Hisense, and Xiaomi already support the current Dolby Vision format, the rollout of Vision 2 is expected to be gradual but widespread.
The core of the advancement lies in enabling more dynamic control over brightness levels, color gamuts, and HDR performance. According to John Couling, Senior Vice President of entertainment at Dolby Laboratories, “we have reached a turning point where television technology has changed dramatically while artists continue to demand even more innovative tools.” Dolby’s goal is to empower creators to deliver content as intended, while also providing viewers with a more immersive and accurate picture.
Canal+ has already committed to supporting the new format across its library of films, series, and live sports broadcasts. The technology’s success hinges on content adoption, and Dolby is focused on facilitating the process for content creators. Initial hands-on testing will be crucial to fully assess the impact of these improvements on the viewing experience.
