Doja Cat Unveils Fifth Studio Album, ‘Vie‘
GRAMMY award-winning artist Doja Cat released her fifth studio album, Vie, on Friday, Sept.26, marking a new chapter in her evolving artistic vision. Teh 15-track album, arriving almost two years after Scarlet, blends her signature pop sensibilities with a renewed exploration of themes surrounding love, sex, and change.
Vie-French for “life”-represents a deliberate artistic choice for Doja Cat, stemming from the roman numeral ‘five’ represented by a tattoo on her collarbone. According too the artist, the number five symbolizes curiosity, adventure, and change in numerology. The album delves into her interpretation of romance, pain, and wonder within relationships, offering a personal and multifaceted viewpoint.
The album features the previously released singles “jealous type” and “gorgeous,” the latter accompanied by a visually striking music video directed by Bardia Zeinali and starring a diverse cast of models including Yseult,Paloma elsesser,and Irina Shayk,styled after classic Revlon advertisements.However, itS the collaboration with SZA on the YTK-produced track ”take Me Dancing” that has immediately ignited fervent online discussion, with fans and Doja Cat herself praising SZA’s vocal talent. “Sza is the siren of this century and my favorite voice,” Doja Cat shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Sept. 24.
Doja Cat is set to heavily promote Vie with upcoming television appearances, co-hosting The Tonight show Starring Jimmy fallon on Oct.1 and serving as the musical guest on the Oct.4 premiere of Saturday Night Live, hosted by Bad Bunny. The release of Vie signals a continued evolution for the artist, solidifying her position as a dynamic force in contemporary music.
