dodgers Complete Dramatic Comeback, Defeat Giants 6-4
LOS ANGELES – The los Angeles Dodgers rallied from a four-run deficit to defeat the San Francisco Giants 6-4 on Saturday night at Dodger Stadium, fueled by a solo home run and a game-tying single. The victory came as the Dodgers celebrated veteran pitcher Clayton Kershaw’s career with a bobblehead giveaway honoring his 3,000 strikeout milestone.
The Giants jumped to an early lead in the top of the first inning, scoring four runs against Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow. Bryce Eldridge delivered a three-run double for his first major league career hit, and Glasnow walked Gilbert with the bases loaded. Glasnow faced 10 batters and threw 43 pitches in the inning before finally striking out Heliot Ramos to end the frame.
The Dodgers began to chip away at the lead in the bottom of the first with a two-run home run by Muncy against Giants pitcher Kai-Wei Teng.Though, the Dodgers were unable to capitalize on a bases-loaded situation in the bottom of the third, leaving the score at 4-2.
The momentum shifted in the fourth. A solo home run by a Dodgers player - his 12th of the season – cut the Giants’ lead to 4-3. Later in the inning, Freddie Freeman singled to right field, bringing in Shohei Ohtani to tie the game at 4-4.
The Dodgers ultimately took the lead and secured the 6-4 victory with continued offensive pressure.
The Dodgers and Giants will continue their series on Sunday.
