Devastating Fire Sweeps Thru Dobšiná, Slovakia – No Injuries Reported
Dobšiná, Slovakia – A meaningful fire broke out in the town of Dobšiná, in the Rožňava district, on Wednesday evening, September 10th, causing extensive damage to multiple properties. Flames initially engulfed the roof of a family home on Jarkova Street before rapidly spreading to two neighboring houses and a portion of the roof of the popular local restaurant, Vintage.
Thankfully, despite the severity of the blaze, no injuries were reported.
Professional firefighters from Rožňava and Dobšiná,alongside volunteer crews from Rejdová,Nižná Slaná,Vysná Slaná,Dobšiná,and Vlachov,responded swiftly to the emergency. The Fire and Rescue Corps reported that the intervention took place in heavily smoke-filled conditions, requiring the use of autonomous respiratory devices. Their coordinated efforts successfully contained and extinguished the fire.

Preliminary investigations point to an electrical short circuit as the cause of the fire. The estimated direct damage currently stands at €192,000.
