While the character has undergone numerous changes over the decades, the early costumes – consisting of masks, leotards, shorts, and gloves – are a far cry from the familiar, approachable figure beloved by generations. The discussion underscores disney’s ongoing efforts to refine and modernize its characters while maintaining their core appeal, and offers a glimpse into the character’s surprisingly experimental beginnings.

An X user initially shared the vintage images, prompting a wave of reactions. The post included photos of costumes from the 1930s, with the user noting their gratitude that Disney ultimately chose a different direction for the character’s appearance.
